I am delighted to be interning at Supang National High School, a public school located in Buenavista, Guimaras Province, Philippines. Established in 2007, the school has quickly become one of the leading educational institutions in the region, renowned for its friendly learning environment and high-quality teaching, attracting students from all over.

Schoolyard - where students can freely play and participate in collective activities

Supang National High School serves students from Grades 7 to 12, offering a diverse curriculum that includes core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Araling Panlipunan, Filipino, and Science. In addition, students have the opportunity to explore their interests through electives like Art, Music, Information Technology, and Sports. The teaching methods here focus on encouraging students to engage in group activities, discussions, and projects, while integrating information technology into the learning process to enhance their educational experience. English is widely used in the educational environment and is the second language in the Philippines, giving students a huge advantage. Being able to communicate in English allows Filipinos and students in the Philippines to access and exchange information more easily with the world, opening up many opportunities for learning and career development. This creates a clear difference when compared to Vietnam, where English is not yet widely used in the community. While Vietnam strives to improve English proficiency in the school setting, the Philippines has long used this edge to boost its global competitiveness.

Assessment is comprehensive, with quarterly exams designed to test students’ knowledge. Teachers monitor student progress through assignments, projects, and classroom participation, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive.

The school is well-equipped with facilities that cater to both teachers’ instructional needs and students’ learning requirements. The spacious sports area is ideal for physical and recreational activities, helping students maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. Additionally, there are numerous extracurricular clubs that allow students to explore their passions and develop their talents.

This internship has provided me with many interesting and wonderful experiences. I am very satisfied with its purpose, as it has taught me new lessons and helped me build friendships with many people, as well as strong relationships with teachers and students at the internship school. With the guidance of my cooperating teacher in lesson planning and implementing the parts of the lesson plan, I have carefully studied my lesson plan and designed engaging activities. My lessons mainly focus on the topics of history, religion and social science. The lesson plan focuses on four main parts: Objectives, Content, Procedure, Assessment or Evaluation and Assignment.
